Hi guys! I want to ask you guys one question. Do you like the play. Julius Caesar? I just wanted to ask your opinion haha.
I personally like this play. It is, though, really hard to understand this old English, but after we talked about it and after I got to understand this story, this play is very interesting to me.
So, how do you guys think about this play?? Do you guys like it? Hate it??

The only problem with this play is that it's in old English haha. However, I still like the play, because many things foreshadows the future while I'm reading the story. Also, I got to understand more when we acted each scenes out. For me, understanding the story is the major problem hehe

I just finished reading act 2 of Julius Caesar and it is so hard! I use Sparknote and No Fear Shakespeare thing. And there are so many words that I don't understand. In Old English, they used lots and lots of -st which never comes out in dictionary.com. So basically, I have to guess what the word means.
I don't like this play but I don't hate this play. I'm kind of between them. There are part I like and part I hate. For example, I love the part with great quotations but I hate it when there is monologue. I found it so boring talking all alone. I rather read dialogue or conversation between many people. That is why I hate Brutus. He talks a lot! Alone! At night! I like Mark Antony because he doesn't really talk long. Anyway, I think there are lots of good quotations we can use in essay.

To me, I really hate it... I have to annotate and read this play during my trip. Also, it is old english and really hard.

I had to use Sparknotes all the time. I found it very very hard but I think that the theme of the story is very interesting. It makes me understand more about life and reality. But there were many words that I don't really know so I have to translate it into a more simple english or even in Thai I don't really like this play but I would have to say that it is not bad so I guess I just have to read more of it to find out what my true feelings towards this play is!

Nope. Not my cup of tea. Old English, trippy rhymes, tricky lines, and so many sexual jokes o_0
It doesn't really bother me that it's in old english, but what drives me away is its style - a play. There's relatively less that goes into describing the environment and no way to express what goes on in the characters' minds. I prefer my novels.

the actual play that Shakespeare wrote, is just ughh...i can't. i found many videos that summarize the play and spark notes at times do help a lot more than the actual play. i wish we could read a modern version of the play.

I think the play is interesting. It's like watching a musical in theater, but only looking at it from the paper, not watching an actual performance. What I really don't like about this play is that I have to use sparknotes or cliffsnotes every time because it's hard to understand what's going on in the play without understanding what the themes and some passages are meant.

I agree with Kevin because it's really hard analyze the characters because there's not much description of the background and their internal feelings (maybe since I'm not used to the old English). Also, I felt that some of the lines aren't necessary because as a whole, they mean the one thing. I hope what each phrases and words mean so that I understand what each character is ACTUALLY going to say. The themes of the play are quite interesting, like internal conflict between friendship and something else.

I neither like it nor hate it (same as neither entertaining nor boring), but old English tires me. I view this play as a ¡°pile of information¡± (annals) about Rome during and after Caesar¡¯s rule. One distinguishing fact of this play is that Shakespeare picked up various messages from Roman history and made it dramatically.

When Ms. Boyd had told us that we were going to learn and read about Julius Caesar , I was skeptical about it, because I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy a story by Shakespeare. Before we had read Julius Caesar, Ms. Boyd had showed us a clip of summary with animated characters in it, and surprisingly the summary was very interesting! I was curious about the details that was going to be in Julius Caesar, when reading the story/ script. I find myself more a visual learner than a reading learner haha meaning, I understand something by watching it and presented to me (for example, watching a movie helps me understand faster than me reading a book of a movie). So, when reading Julius Caesar I didn't really understand fully, but when we had presented each scenes of Act 1 and brought Mr. Edward in, I understood fully of what the Act 1 was about. And So far I'm liking Julius Caesar.

Well, I think the play is pretty interesting, I think it's because I already read it a long time ago and what I remember is that I found it interesiting when I was reading it. And it's pretty weird that some things are different in this play from what I remember, even though I read the same play. Anyways, I found the play interesting and it's getting pretty interesting.

I think that the play isn't all that bad. The story is easy to understand and the way of characters are thinking are very specific.
