In our class, first period, Ms. Boyd told us to discuss quote by Caesar. Also she mentioned that this will be on the upcoming TEST. Act 2 test, she mean.
The quote was "Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once."
So, I think this quote means if you be a coward, your pride and honor dies numerous times, since you are yielding to someone and descent yourself down. So you are killing yourself, or pride numerous times. But if you are a valiant man, you don't yield to others and be confident. Than your value doesn't decrease, and your honor doesn't die. You only die when you face death, which is once in our life. Yet if you are a coward, you are killing yourself many times before you face death.
So, what's your interpretation of this quote?

Yea, i thought same way with you. The cowards always lie to people, including himself. He always hide his feeling, never show it to others. He just put it in his mind, and make him to low class when he is with the higher nobles. But the valiant has their own mind, they never change their change their belief. Also his whole life changes by himself, in his own choice.

I think the quote means that if you live like a coward, it's not living. A coward would never have the courage to do outrageous things and go out of their safe zone. What's the point of living if you don't do anything interesting with your life? So Shakespeare is saying that if you live like a coward, there is no difference from being dead. On the other side, the valiant ones, the ones who are brave enough stand out, are the ones who are alive. That's what I think

What I think about the quote is that cowards don't live the real life, because you can't really do anything if you're afraid of doing something. Brave person always wins. I agree with this quote because people learn from their experiences. Therefore, if you are a coward, you won't have chances to learn a new thing.

Coward people live in a world full with regret and self hatred because they always keep themselves safe in their home which enable them to miss opportunities to go and make mistakes outside their comfort zone. Villains they take actions and make mistakes. Villains is not afraid to make mistake and is always ready to face the truth which means that they always live their life to the max.
Death in regards to the coward is not physical death, but spiritual and mental death. When the coward misses all of life's opportunities to challenge themselves and grow, they have stopped interacting, and in complacency they experience a form of death repeatedly with each missed opportunity to act.

I think this quote is about when you are a coward - be afraid of facing difficulties and challenges, something "dies" inside them. However, death is inevitable so don't be a coward that you will lose precious hours of your life to run away challenges. Let be a brace man.

I agree with Bach because I also think the quote is saying that a coward loses his or her precious time and many other valuable things in life, worrying about death. This means that the coward wouldn't risk anything in order to put himself or herself to the "death zone.", which is trivial to valiant people. Cowards wouldn't enjoy things in life and just be "dead." I can connect this to myself because I'm a some sort of coward. I worry about so many things though they don't include death. I think that the time you waste worrying can be so useful. But I don't think being a coward is necessarily a bad thing since you can be cautious and thoughtful about ideas in life, such as death.

I think its sort of true but not really, ceasar is very arrogant person who acts cool and stuff. All ceasar does is trying to be popular and prove everyone that he is the best guy out there. I think being a coward doesnt mean you already die many times in your pride, i think it means that you are giving on yourself by not trying to overcome your fear to specific thing. You always can push yourself to be better and not be scared of anything

I believe this quote is trying to tell us that, don't live as a coward but live as a valiant. Being a coward leads to many results and many emotions, meaning that being a coward will have you regret so many things, give up very easily on things, and also being a coward is not believing in yourself too. If you don't believe in yourself first than who will believe in you at all. However, I believe that all human beings have coward sides. Everyone is a coward in many different ways. For example, drinking, smoking at a underage is being a coward, giving up on yourself or your goal is being a coward, crying about unnecessary things is being a coward and etc! Shakespeare is telling us directly that Don't live as a coward because you rather die once and experience big failure once than being a coward and killing yourself all the time and letting yourself down.

I think that it means that cowards, in order to survive, they are willing to give up on themselves, on their identity. They are willing to sacrifice anything, even if it means what makes them as them. So they end up killing themselves as who they are for they fear the pain that will come upon them if they don't do like so. On the other hand, the valiant only die once because they die only when they actually die. No matter what happens, they never give up on themselves. They stand strong and face all the difficulties they must go through. They don't try to take short cuts or cheat their way through. They keep their integrity and pride as who they are and eventually continue to live as who they are.

I think that cowards fear death every time and do unfair things to survive. Their fear of being afraid of death ¡°kills¡± their pride. Brave people are not afraid of death and only die once in their life.

This is like YOLO in Shakespearean. Basically if U are brave, u take chances, u live life to the fullest, u live in the moment, u wanna have the best time now and not regret not doing anything later cuz who know, u just might die tomorrow. But if u are not brave, u stay on the safe side, which is no fun. Life is short and you only get one shot at it so make it the best

This is how I think about this quote. A coward is not a powerful character in a society. So, many other people does not respect the coward, which kinda 'kills' the coward. In here, I think 'die' means to not respect the person, which wounds the coward's self-respect. But, if you are a valiant person, many people shows respect towards you, which you don'y 'die'. In the quote, it says a valiant man dies only once. I think the 'dies' here means literal death.

Yeah.. I also think that it means that cowards don't live their lives as valuable as others do. Their value of life goes down as they live the way they are living right now and they die inside numerous times. Because they are cowards , they often can't talk about their real true mind inside. Meanin that they are afraid of speaking their opinions. Because they can't speak up, they are following the others and which it kills them internally.

I think that it means that before they even try that they are bound to fail their tasks. However there are people that will be successful than others.
