What if Caesar had not died?

While we went through the play, I was wondering what would happen if Caesar managed to "ruin the part of domino" and avoid the conspirators' plan.
In my opinion, he would become a tyrant. If he survived, I think it is very likely for Caesar to take the crown because he already has a lot of supporters (especially the commoners) and some reliable allies such as Mark Antony who want him to become the emperor. However, by seeing from his quotes "I was constant Cimber should be banished. And constant do remain to keep him so." Caesar would not listen to the citizens if he really became the emperor. Throughout the play his private self became fuzzy as his public self took over. Therefore, I don't think Caesar would make wise decisions as he did before.

I agree. As a tyrant, he wants to do what he wants so the arrogance will control him to do everything with out thinking.
As butterfly effect, if Caesar didn't die, i think he will ruin Roman. Otherwise, history will change a lots.

I think that if Caesar didn't die then I think it would have still led to the future of Rome to collapse and get ruined. I think that destiny just took a different way to destory Rome's powerful reign, even though it might have took a longer time.

Well, if he was alive, I guess that is one possibility haha. I kind of think the same way because of the part where Caesar refuses the crown, but he actually wants it inside. Also, he kind of is an arrogant man. Everytime somebody gives an advice, (for ex. advice from Calpurnia) he would just ignore it if it doesn't make sense to him. So... I guess one possibility is that he would've became a tyrant. Also, I kind of wonder what would've happened if Brutus actually tried to convince Caesar; convince him to become a right leader of Rome. Like.. what if Brutus stays beside Caesar and tries to help him out..
hmmm.....but now I kinda think he wouldn't have listened to Brutus either if he was a tyrant.. haha

Learning how Antony turned out, I think ceasar would have been killed after his famous tyranny by Antony.

His tyranny will continue and will kill anyone who seems suspicious. He will be more arrogant than he was. People would want him to be the emperor, proven that Caesar was successful. But if he will be the emperor, his private self will take over his public self. As a result, he will not listen to the citizens, his family members, and political body.
Either way, Caesar will be eventually assassinated by someone.

I also think that he would become a tyrant if he was not killed, because there were a lot of supporters out there in Rome. Also, if he was not killed, Brutus and Cassius would've not died. However, I think Brutus and Cassius would've killed anyways by Caesar because Caesar would kill people who looked suspicious.

Like you guys said, I think Caesar will most likely to become a tyrant if he had not died. Before his actual death, Caesar said, "I was constant Cimber should be banished. And constant do remain to keep him so." Caesar meant that he will not change his mind about his determination and stand firm in it. This proves to us that he will do whatever he wants without any careful thought when making an important decision.

If Caesar didn't die, I think Caesar would be a tyrant as many of you guys said. Even before he was assassinated, he was very arrogant and ruled over many people. So if he becomes the king, I think he would be a tyrant and be very arrogant.

If not Caesar did not have died Rome would have been a completely different country. Caesar, would have fully changed into his public self, and become a tyrant. It was quite oblivious that he will be a tyrant even to Brutus, as his ambition darkens Caesar, so there will be more terror in Rome. Rome, known for its artistic and democratic growth would not have happened and have changed to a country of terror

I agree with Woojung that Julius Caesar would have become a tyrant. Because, as most of us see, his public self overtook private self. He wasn't listening to people's good and ideas. He believed he was mighty and unchanging so he won't change the policy even though most of people want. He had foolish stubbornness. He thought he was the highest and people should follow him no matter what. Not only this part, but also parts in act 2 proves that Julius Caesar is potential to become a tyrant.

But i don't think his tyranny would last long. Because I'm sure Brutus and conspirators would form conspiracy again to bring Caesar down since he had all the power and he was a tyrant. Also, people could have revolt against Caesar because he wasn't being a great leader, as people expected. But the biggest factor that I believe Caesar will fall soon is that Caesar believed fate can't be changed. Since Julius Caesar was meant to die, he would have died soon. It is just matter of time and I think it would happen fast and soon enough.

I agree with most people. I think Caesar would've been a leader who easily ignores his private self and sticks onto his decision no matter how it's good for Rome or not. He is afraid of the degree of his greatness perceived by the public. As he becomes an emperor and gets settled, he would probably show his ambition and eventually become a tyrant. But I think that Caesar's death is destined. There would've been so many envious senators and even Brutus would've made the same choice, if he existed. And Rome wouldn't have faced the golden age without Caesar's death.

I think that Caesar would become a tyrant and as all the citizens in Rome will become slaves because Caesar is greedy and he listens to what other people say all the time (since he is easily persuaded). Power can make people blind and walk in the wrong direction. Rome would be completely different from the Rome we see today. Some of his supporter might help him get the crown just because they are planning to stab him at the back later on when he had gain all the power and trusts from the people of Rome.

I completely agree with what you said Woojong. I think everyone else does as well. Caesar would probably have become a tyrant. As a tyrant I feel like Antony would have Caesar's back. If Caesar was alive, he would order Antony to kill all the conspirators.

But then again, if Caesar had turned into a complete tyrant, Antony wouldn't tolerate that. So eventually Caesar WILL die. It's DESTINY!!!
