How did u guys prepare for the monologues? Yes, I nerd stand u just memorize, but what is the process? How did u come up with he meaning and translation? Which order did u to in? Is there something other than sparks notes that u used? I have to perform my monologue next week and I'm kind of lost and scared...

For mine, i just memorized by reading it over and over again. And then for the summary and analysis I read the scene my monologue was in to understand what was happening. I mostly read sparknotes, nofearshakespeare. Also I tried discussing about my monologue with some friends to see different perspectives which does help a lot with parts that have double meanings.

I agree with yeajin's idea on repeating reading and looking at the analyses. Also to add the idea, record yourself reading the monologue and practice while listening it. Or watch the video of the scene that you have to speak.

I'm Act 5, but im done memorizing so ill tell you how i memorized my line hehe. I didn't do the analysis and the explanation part, but I memorized my monologue while showering. lol believe it or not, my concentration is on the peak when I try to memorize stuff while showering. So, I recommend you to do this if you have to memorize things. also, I am going to look up for some julius caesar videos to understand what's going on.

Well, you know that I am pretty okay with my memorization. Okay, I admit, I am good at memorizing. But of course, Shakespeare thing is hard for me too. It takes longer hours to memorize them. Also when I memorize lines, it takes me longer than memorizing vocabularies. Because they are in order!
Anyway, I memorized at night. It is really helpful. This is scientifically proven, one of the scientist said that if you memorize before you sleep, you can memorize better because you are using your brain to maximum level. And the next morning, first thing comes up to your mind will be your lines. That happens to me. Also read the lines and say it out loud many times. That helps you. Also for me, walking around and memorizing at the same time really helps me. Well, some people didn't find it helpful at all. Anyway, that is how I do it.
Good luck!
Obviously, for translation, I went to Sparknote translation and analysis. I also typed in my line in google and it showed me a presentation (prezi) of student analysis of every single sentence! You should try that.

I'm done with my monologue on last Friday (thank goodness) but I think I'm kind of messed up a little bit. Good luck to those who didn't do their monologues yet!

well, this is a very late response, but anyways, what i used was sparknotes and youtube but I mainly used youtube. I searched for the actual play and i found this old version and watched my part. It really helped me understand what was going on since now i can actually see the actions and hear the emotions through their intonations within their speeches. It's been a long time ever since i used youtube for an educational purpose. lol

late response too, but on sparknotes, there's the entire Julius Caesar script translated into understandable english, or modern english. So that made things a lot easier because I now knew what the dialogue actually meant. And, like other people have said, just watch the actual play itself. The people reading the monologue are professional actors, which should give you a big push towards getting an A for the monologue
