OMG GUYS! is it just me?..While reading I swore so much out loud haha While reading Camp 14 I was really pissed off with the stupid guards! I think that they are so cruel and they are just unnecessarily cruel. If they are going to hit, kill, hurt those people at least have a reasonable reason to do it. Like starving them and not providing enough food for them and then expecting them to work extra hard and well in their job and expect them not to steal, I found that very stupid. The guards seriously should be the ones to be whipped, killed, and burnt to death !!!!!! ahh makes me so angry! i hate Kim's family srsly... we should just bomb up N. Korea guys Tell me what you guys think!!! haha

Woahhhh harsh words right there.. haha But I agree in a way.. Those guards were really cruel and heartless. And how they rape any girl and kill them if they get pregnant is horrible. It's so stupid. Writing about this makes me more angry.. haha
Seriously. Those guards deserve to be treated like how they treated the innocent prisoners. What they are doing is so much worse than what they torture the prisoners for.

It was true that the guards in North Korea were very cruel and inhumane because they treated people like animals. The guards raped women, beat up a lot of people, and also killed them even though people were innocent. The worse thing is that North Korean is now threatening us and the some of the other countries to launch nuclear bomb to get whatever they want. However, even thought they did these kinds of horrible things, I think we should just forgive them and hope that they would not do anything insane.

I want to bomb N.Korea as well...but I'm afraid many civilians would be hurt if we do that. Do the guards even feel pity for people in camp? I know they are trained not to be merciful towards prisoners, but this is too much, man. Well I think the teacher who sent Shin to farm kinda feels pity, but everyone else is just cruel and immoral. I guess they don't know because they were not in the camp people's shoes. I was shocked when I read about the Bowuiwon children. I know that those children are immature, but I can't believe they bully someone who is weaker than them. They must have learnt from their parents. Monkey see, monkey do, huh?

LOL that's true. the guards, soldiers, prisoners, everyone looks stupid in this book. (Include everyone in Shin's family) The guards are just like king of the camp, they do whatever they want to do. And the worst part in the story is that's all truth, it really happened in North Korea. Also even if both of North and South want to untied, it required huge amount of money, just like when west and east german united.

Stanford Prison Experiment.
"(After 36 hours) #8612 then began to act crazy, to scream, to curse, to go into a rage that seemed out of control. It took quite a while before we became convinced that he was really suffering and that we had to release him." - Philip Zimbardo, Stanford Psychology Professor and supervisor of experiment
Here's why it matters: A scientific experiment was carried out though 7 days in 1971 in Stanford university to study the psychological effects of being a prison guard. 24 people were randomly selected to be either guards or prisoners. By the sixth day, the experiment was abruptly terminated: two people had to quit early, the prisoners suffered emotional distress, there were sadistic and violent behaviors in the guards, and the Stanford professor in charge, Zimbardo, allowed it.
Now think about it: This was not some crazy, violent warden. This was a Stanford Psychology professor and his students. These were 24 college students, middle-class, normal, and were selected to be the most stable out of the 75 that applied. And that experiment only lasted six days.
Have you lost hope in humanity yet? Are you scared of your friends yet? I wonder which one of us will be the prisoner, and which one of us will be the abusive guard if we ran the experiment in our class.

Yeah i totally agree with, they treating campers like animals and even worse. People already dying because of malnutrition and lack of rest, guards are just being morons by hitting them even stronger and harsher. Probably most of them were raised that way if you are higher class you can look at people from above thats what i think.

wowwww calm down juni this website is visible even if u r not a member, i guess. But i agree with you the guards are really stupid but according to their culture the prisoners were sinners and they deserved to be punished so they didn't care maybe that's why they do all these unncessary punishments.

I like the way how you express feelings toward those people involved in cruelty that makes you feel like you want to slap their faces and drown them. Haha. Well, I didn't actually read the book but I can totally imagine those guards "torturing" the prisoners. Not feeding them is the worst thing that I can ever imagine. I like the way how Kevin pointed out the Standford Prison experiment. I actually downloaded the movie since I thought it was interesting how people can turn into whatever roles or positions they take in and adapt to it. They eventually become psychologically wrong, I guess. I downloaded it but I didn't watch it yet!

I think everyone has same thoughts about Camp 14. In my opinion, I thought that the prisoners should have more rights, because they have to follow what the guards say every time. Especially in underground prison, Shin was tortured cruelly. I felt so bad for Shin because he got tortured even thought he was the one who informe about the escaping plan of his mother and brother. I thought that the labour camps should really disappear in North Korea.
