ms boyd told us to seize our day and it had to be something that we wanted to do but couldnt do because we were to busy with other things. that sounds quite correct. but honestly, the things that we're busy with, especially our studies, isnt that for something that we want to do but its just that its a very long term goal? if we're working hard for something like these kinds of long term goals, then I think we can say that we seized our day since we are now at least one step closer to what we really want. so what do you think? do you agree that seizing the day could be something as boring as studying SATs and doing your homework instead of moving your butt outside?
In a way I agree with what you said Luke. But you know now days everyone studing SAT, homeworks, quizes, tests, etc became like daily life. So mostly seize the day in most case now days will be forgetting about all the SATs and works form school and taking a day off hanging out with your friend or even with your family and try to do things you always wanted or said you were gonna do but never did. So In a way I actually agree that everyday we seize the day to reach our long term goal of succeeding life but if you look at it it's like everyday is same things all the time so in short term i guess it's really not seizing the day.
I do think that staying home and studying is seizing your day if you really did push it off to do something else. But, I don't really want to seize my day studying hard because that's just too not fun and I don't think Ill have fun doing it.
I think that seizing the day was a test for us whether we can find some time to relax ourselves from studying in school or studying at home. I also think that it is something to help us be refreshed, but I think that this might have actually stressed some people though of what to do for the day.
Obviously. You're correct Luke. But I think the seize day is not kind of investment for your future. If you're happy with that, and the study is what you really want to do(like Lin), it is right. But if it's just the day for future and it's not following your own opnion (not like for your own future, just the thing what you want to do, right now. you don't have to worry about others.), I don't think the study thing can be seize the day.
I think that seizing the day must be something you want to do deep inside. Succeeding in life and getting high grades at school and SAT, might be influenced by your parents. This influence can end up being part of what you want to do. But for seizing the day, i think we should do something meaningful and different. Most of our lives are in regular patterns and i think that seizing that day can change this pattern a bit. We can also do something that we haven't done in a while. i.e. family time or friend time~ :3
Ohh i think i agree with you because studying will pay off in future. Studying will allow us to seize the day in future because when we get a job and earn money we will be able to seize our day everyday. So we are indirectly seizing our day because studying will pay off later.
I kind of disagree. Even though studying hard or whatever is getting closer to our goals, the process isn't quite fun at all. I mean, seriously, do you enjoy while you're working on SATs? If you aren't, how would you say that you are actually seizing your DAY? I think seizing the day doesn't necessarily has to be something that you've always wanted to do. What if something bad happenes while you're doing something you've always wanted to do?... My definition of seizing the day is to enjoy each moment, every single minute you're spendin.
Hmm.. I think seizing the day means to really do what you want to do for just that one day. Not like SATs... Although it's for your future happiness, I think it is wrong to think that studying SATs is seizing the day. Seizing the day means to really do what you want to do like going somewhere that you couldn't go because you were too lazy or busy. You shouldn't think about the future, and just enjoy that only one day
I think that to seize the day you have to actually go outside and do something that you don't normally do. Do something that you can only do in a very rare occasion. Everyone nowadays are doing tests and studying all the time. But I think that going outside and actually finding some sort of activities to do to relax is actually a good thing. It will not only help you physically but also mentally too! Like for me, I ALWAYS have training every single day and also saturday too, so what I am actually doing is I always seize the day on every sunday because out of 7 days, I only have 1 day reset both from school and from the company so I think that by going outside and enjoying life is THE BEST IDEA THAT EVERYONE SHOULD DO!

I disagree. There is a huge difference between what we want to do and work to achieve what we want to do. Seizing the day means what we want to do but we can¡¯t do it because of lack of time, not what work we have to do to achieve our result. Studying SAT is not seizing the day because we¡¯re not enjoying the process to achieve what we want to do.

Of course I agree with you! Seizing the day is literally doing whatever you want, whatever instinct tells you to do. Also it can be meant use the day usefully. Well, going outside and have fun unlike the other days can be seizing the day as well, because if you follow the instinct and be you own, that is seizing the day. However, if your instinct tells you to study for upcoming for test or SAT in the future, I think that is the seizing the day as well, because you followed your instinct to study and you used the day usefully for the future, for the thing you wanted.
The goal, depending on short term or long term, seizing the day might be different as Luke said. I think studying can be seizing the day, preparing for the future, the goal. But I kind of prefer more hanging out outside with people having fun than studying alone because we always do that, right? You see, we are seizing the day everyday!
For me, I think seizing the day is doing something completely different because studying very hard to achieve something is not really new to you because you have been doing it for a long time. So, I think that trying something new you haven't done yet but trying it for the first time is seizing the day.
