do you know any transcendentalists? they don't have to be real or famous, even people around you like your family are fine.
for me, i think Hancock is quite of a transcendentalist because he really doesn't care what the society thought of his actions. he did all these "bad stuff" for a superhero and he'd just say "heck with it". for him he believed that he was doing the right things and the people are just ungrateful for it. he's not an entirely awesome transcendentalist (because he was wrecking everything) but he was one heck of a transcendentalist.
I think Joker from Darknight is transcendentalist because he doesn't follow any rules from law, he has his own world in his mind. Unlike any other hero's enemies, he doesn't care about money, he just moves as what he thinks, and he doesn't has any specific object for the criminal. The criminals what he made is just for prove his own world.
IF we talk about music, for me I think that Lady Gaga is a transcendentalist especially with her music and fashion. She doesn't care what other people thinks of her and she does what she wants to do not what the society think is right or wrong. We saw her meat dress, her super high heels, and her epic music videos and we can truly see that she is very independent and even though she might received a lot of criticism from other people but she never stops doing it. I really like her and how she is not scared to express herself as a transcendentalist.
I think Adam Lambert is a transcendentalist because he willingly revealed and accepted the fact that he was gay no matter how the society judges him as. Normally, people, especially celebrities, would try to hide their sexual identity(?) from the public to prevent any prejudice. Whatever they do, the public would try to relate their issues to their image. But Adam Lambert seems to be proud of his identity. He basically told himself that it was right for him to stick on to his true traits and follow his instinct. I think people like him more since he's proud and confident that he's gay. I think he's cool too.

I guess both Ellen DeGenres and Portia de Rossi are transcendentalists too because they, like Adam Lambert, also revealed and accepted the fact that they were lesbian regardless what other people might think of them. They revealed that they loved and devoted to one another. I googled Portia de Rossi and the Wikipedia said that she feared revealing herself as lesbian to the public before dating Ellen. However, she seemed proud of her identity when she started dating Ellen. So, I think they are both transcendentalist
omg Chris when i saw this topic i automatically thought about Ellen DeGeneres. It was not long ago when someone told me she got married to a woman. Even though I act like homosexuals are not okay and kind of weird in front of people, I personally believe love can be anything. Which means you can love anyone you want.. relationship is just between you and that person. Ellen DeGeneres, I admire her for stepping out her comfort zone and telling everyone. I also heard the Ellen DeGeneres show was stopped because of her confession... and i really think that was a ridiculous thing to do. and for those people to supported Ellen DeGeneres and her show Im thankful to them too because I really do love her shows and it would've really sucked if her show didn't continue.
I think my sister is a transcendentalist. She walks around singing random songs, and wear crazy colored socks. Also, she likes to buy things that are neon, highlighter yellow, and colors that really stand up. When i walk with her, i easily get embarrassed because she just does whatever she likes. Sometimes she talks in a british accents, which really made me to walk faster to get further from her.
Well, speaking of Hancock, I think iron man is a transcendentalist then.. haha because, when the other superheros are trying to hide there real identity (spiderman, batman, etc.), he says screw it and reveals that he is Ironman. He felt like telling people that he is the superhero and so he did which his instinct told him to do. Wasn't that being a transcendentalist?.. Also, when he was asked to turn the suit to the government, he didn't even though there were pressure by the government... idk.. so.. I think he is a kind of a transcendentalist.
Galileo and Darwin, to name a few. These were scientists who went against the common wisdom of their day, choosing to acknowledge their belief in the evidence they had gathered rather than to bend over for the masses.
Galileo ran against the "theory" that the Earth was the center of the universe. Galileo was put under a lifelong house arrest. Darwin's fear of the predominant theory of creation actually resulted in him spending many more decades after his Galapagos Island trip gathering even more evidence.
We could also put Einstein up there; as a mere patent clerk he published his theory of Relativity that overturned a fundamental assumption of physics after a decade's worth of work. He flew in the face of mainstream science, even until his death.

All kids are transcendentalists. They do what they want, where they want, where ever they want. I think we should be more like kids. Since that was pretty short, also, John Green. He wrote the book, 'The Fault In Our Stars' and has a youtube channel, where he discusses the awesomeness of being a geek (this is not self promotion) and occasionally draws on his face with Sharpies.

I would say I¡¯m transcendentalist because: I don¡¯t follow technological trend (I still have five year old phone and decide not to change it) I don¡¯t watch music audition thing I don¡¯t know famous idols (music-related) I know South Korean, American, North Korean, Chinese, and Japanese military power (Such as firearms, vehicles, missile, and other info) Others are not familiar with me

I think drunk people are transcendentalists (jkjkjkjkjkjkj) I believe that Lady Gaga is a transcendentalist. I think she is a transcendentalist because she doesn't think what people think about her outfit. She wears it anyways.
Oh!! I just saw Sorn's post. She used Lady Gaga as well so i am going to write again. I also think that Ellen DeGeneres is a transcendentalist because she is open about her being a lesbian and soes not care who thinks what about her.
