What i got from it is that you can't escape death just by forgetting that it exists, shutting out all evidence of it and enjoying the finer delights of life. Also, even the rich, happy and beautiful will eventually face the horrors of death. That's the allegorical meaning, and i understood that. But all the symbolization with the rooms...most of us don't even know what a brassier is.

I searched on Spark notes after I did my annotation because I thought that the story was very weird and I knew that there must be a lot of symbolism in this story for sure. While I was reading the story, I questioned about the different colors of the room, how the room was organize, the clock in the center of the hall, the name of the prince, and the east to west direction.

I guess the crazy guest who costumed as red clothes represents the red death, and at the beginning, it says most of the people died by the thing, and there was the word disease, and pollution. So i guessed the red death as some disease that can spread easily and really dangerous. And the red guest represents the disease which is red death. So the reason why everyone died is just because the red death (disease) came into the castle when everyone else didn't notice. I guess so. I think i got the basic story, but not really specific things. but ms. boyd will tell us, so i'm not worrying about that lol

yeah i didnt really get the story either, its weird and really creepy. All the story talks about are the rooms and its sort of boring. Seems like the author was kind of mentally unstably or something, anyway i didnt get the story till ms boyd explained us all about it.

The part that confused me the most was the arrangement of rooms. I didn't know that the rooms were connected with a single hallway... could that symbolize something?

I totally agree that Korean subway is really confusing. I always get lost whenever I go to new places... Anyway I also agree that this story is really hard to read because of big words and long sentences or phrases. And I found out that 3 pages out of 4 pages is actually description of house or castle, room and the situation of the outside world. I was really bored when I read the description but when I read the ending part, oh my god, I got goosebumps... I liked the story actually because I could picture what would have happen. And drawing how the castle looks like was fun too. But honestly, this story was really hard. I am quite sure even Seniors won't get it a lot. Oh, this is actually senior's work. Anyway, there is so many symbolism here too. So many things to know...

At first, I was confused about the arrangement of the 7 rooms. The explanations were very hard to understand... But after I learned about the rooms, now I know that the corners are symbolizing how people cannot see their future(rooms) directly. Oh btw, while I was searching about the Masque of the Red Death, I saw that the Red Death was influenced by tuberculosis, because the author's wife and mother died from tuberculosis. I'm not really sure whether this is true or not, but I think it's an interesting information.

When I first read the story, it was kind of hard for me to understand, but when I got to discuss in the class, I could actually get the story. The story had a lot of symbolisms and connections. For example, the 7 doors represented the life cycle. It was really cool to find out all the different symbolisms.
