Wow, so many ideas! And we have lots of things to talk about in Harrison Bergeron. I believe he was 14 because the author wanted to influence us. Because he knew that people in our age will read this book(since this is a short story), he tried to use our age. He wanted to tell us to support democracy rather than communism as the book describes.
And I also agree with Luke that kids have more imagination and they are pure. Since he is young, he could think out of box and creatively. If he was grown up, he couldn't come up with an idea to rebel and if he was too young, he wouldn't care at all. And 14, between adult and child was best to represent his idea.

I think Harrison Bergeron's age was 14, because the author wanted to emphasize that he didn't really understand how the politics work. Usually when you are 14, it is hard to say that they know everything about the government. So, the author might be saying that Harrison's rebellious action could be wrong.

because maybe at the age of 14 is where we try to connect to the real world and hoping to fix the world, they want to connect to the real world but still has no idea how the real world is so intsead they do whatever they think is right for them to do. but has no idea what they're really doing.

I think the author made Harrison Bergeron as age 14 to represent this age. Normally, when you are 14 years old, you're in your teen age and you attain puberty. When you attain puberty, you don't listen to your parents and just live as you want to. So I think the author used this age to show that people in that age show different thoughts.
