I was just interested to know how you guys think of the movie "Equilibrium" and how this movie could connect to your life in anyway (theme, events, characters, etc).
For me this movie connects to my life because of the scene where the main character is about to go save the women but it was too late. This actually happened once to me. I had a big fight with my uncle and I felt really bad. I wanted to apologize to him but then when I was about to call him, the hospital called my family and told us that my uncle had a car accident and he had now passed away.
Which this events reminds me of the scene in the movie. How about you guys?

This is a really mild example compared to yours, and the ones shown in the movie, but as a child, sometimes if I make too much of a fuss my parents would reprimand me for being too loud and noisy in public. I'm sure this has happened to all of you, and you've probably seen children who cry and scream in public places and disturb everyone else while doing so.
My past experiences remind my of how the people in the movie regard emotion as a very disturbing thing, and people who show it are not just given a stern talking-to, but are executed in a gruesome way.

aww.. Sorn Im really sorry that happened.. While watching this movie not only i learnt that people were cruel but I also learnt another lesson. Appreciate what we have around us and fully love the people we're with and especially our families and our lovers. Death happens really quick and it's very unpredictable and just thinking about that.. I always try my best to be a good daughter to my parents and not regret once they pass away in the future...

Making personal connection with the movie Equilibrium, I'm reminded of myself doing something stupid in the past. Like the way how John Preston stopped taking the drugs that suppress emotions when he was supposed to, I've kind of done the same thing since it pleased me. One of numerous examples that I have is lying. Lying is very fun to do. Everybody must have lied at some point of his or her life. It's a lie if you say you never lied. Anyways, as you guys know, when you start lying, you can never stop easily. It's related to John's addiction to feelings. And I wouldn't mention any more about myself lying in the past .

Perfect rationality is what I'm reminded of. When I was younger, I believed that emotions had to be discarded entirely when facing a debate, problem, or competition. If I became nervous, I became flawed. My enemies will exploit that flaw. Logic, I came to believe, is the perfect way of guiding creative thinking.
I still back my statement that logic is the perfect way of thinking; we should all be perfectly rational when facing some sort of adversary. On the flip side, though, I need my motivation to accomplish anything, and my curiosity to try. There are only several emotions I cannot do without. The rest can be discarded.
Equilibrium wasn't that far off the mark.

While watching movie i realized that there are way worse people that we can possibly imagine. Some people just dont have any emotions and do what they wanted to do, control people to do the dirty job of killing. Once i had a fight with my friend,it wasnt serious but still was a pretty big fight. By the end of the week he had moved to another country and i havent met him anymore.

I feel really bad Sorn... Well, this is a similar case with Sorn. My grandmother was very sick so the hospital didn't even take her to hospitalize. So, we brought her to my house and took care of her until it was time to say GOOD bye to her. The day we had to say good bye to our grandmother was the day when I was in kindergarten. I was playing with my friends, and my kindergarten teacher told me that I should go home because my grandmother passed away. Even though I was really young, I was very shocked and ran home. By the time I went to my house, she was gone, including all of her things. It was too late for me to say good bye. So while watching this movie, I was able to connect it with me.

Aw... I feel really sad for you Sorn... When I saw this movie, I realized how people would be like without feelings. They would just be like robots. I never thought about people not having any feelings. I also realized how the government was so mean. They killed or executed the person just because they had feelings. All they could do is like give a fine or make them take the medicine. They said that war and murder is gone, but what they are doing is breaking the rules. I noticed and realized alot of things in this movie.

I feel sorry Sorn I have something that can connects me to the movie, remember the scene when he saves the little puppy? He feel sorry for the puppy and won't let the bad people kill them. And he also knows the consequences that he's taking. I once found a puppy in the rain, it was soo cute and I couldn't stand to watch it freezing in the rain so I brought it home. But then my parents told me to put the puppy outside and not bringing him inside the house. So I stay with it on my balcony outside the house and hug it tight so he won't feel cold.

For me, the connection is higher person is trying to control and giving pressure to lower people. Not exactly one scene, i mean the whole movie, and specially in the last part, when citizen try to attack government and try get freedom. I think that part was great example of showing every people want to do.

I found it very hard to connect myself with the movie, it really was very hard. How can I connect with the movie? Its just that the world that they are in Equilibrium is so much different than the world that we live in, so i cannot really connect with the story, its hard. I don't really have much experience with death, i never had my loved ones seriously injured or dead, I cannot imagine that happening. It's extremely hard to connect with this movie

the most connection i made with this movie was with the book 1984, they have pretty much the same plot. and the personal connections i made are not exactly the same as the ones in the movie. school would kind of be like Father because there are CCTV's who are constantly watching us. they might not watch is all the time but the footage is saved so the school can get us anytime for doing "wrong" things. we cannot talk back to teachers, not do homework, wear certain clothes, behave certain ways with our peers because the school considers them wrong and if we do them we get in trouble.
