In the class, we have read all different types of sonnets of Shakespeare. For Stephen and me, we read sonnet 20 and had really very hard time. It took me a week to fully understand the poem. And I heard most of us have different number of sonnet. And in the class, we were in teams to discuss the all the themes of other sonnets. Our class have finished sharing the themes of the sonnets. And I would like to know about other sonnets in the other class. Because the other class is bigger, I don't know lots of them. And I want to know the revised version of analysis of sonnets in our class as well. So, like, what was your sonnet number and what was it about? Mine had so many themes that can be argued. There were mother nature (which Stephen came up with) and homosexuality (theme I came up with). So what was your one about?

Mine was Sonnet 16. It is telling to us not just read his sonnets; to carry out an action (back then, people thought that reading too much was bad). We are beautiful when we¡¯re young, which is a perfect time where women want to marry you. After the marriage and bearing a child, he or she will be better than you (improvement). You will enjoy your life living with your child, feeling like you returned to childhood (I¡¯m not sure about this because lines 9~12 were difficult). Marriage will keep you away from misery, and only your skill will result in this conclusion.

Mine was sonnet 7. Sadly we are in same class. But whatever, I didn't read the other's sonnet perfectly, but i think it was easier than others. Mine was obviously human's life(I said obvious, but in my opinion...) The first quatrain was about talk about rise of sun->birth. The person gets admiration when they birth by other people. Shakespeare wrote his to sun in the sonnet, so it means the sun is comparing our life. Second quatrain was basically about the middle of sky, noon, the climax and most busy and golden age to the people. Many other people respect him in that time. Third quatrain was the fall of sun, when people get older, he/she doesn't have power anymore, other people start to ignore, at least they don't respect him. The last couplet is the meaning of if you don't want to be ignore by other people, get a son in the noon of your life, which means marriage. Then you will keep getting respect from the son.

I had Sonnet 19. This sonnet is mainly focusing on Time and what it is capable of doing. As we all know, time and aging links together. At the beginning of the sonnet, Shakespeare starts by allowing "Time" to do whatever it wants, which is taking away youth from every living thing. Then, the purpose of the sonnet is introduced when Shakespeare mentions about the one thing that he wouldn't allow time to do. (Taking away the beauty and youth from his lover)
He immortalized his lover and his love for her by writing this sonnet down.

AS you know, my sonnet number is 7.The sonnet is about life of a man.His life is like the sun. In 1QT, it is talking about his birth and childfood. He is like a sun rise in morning.Every people bless his birth. In 2QT, it is talking about when he is 20s~30s. His life is in the highest point.Like in top of the sky in noon. He is so bright and people respect to him. But in 3QT, he gets a weak. Like the sun at dusk. People don't care about him and look another way. In the last part, it is talking about that he should get a son. If so, people look you again.

Mine was sonnet 22. It's basically about a man saying that how he doesn't get old because his lover is always young. He says that since his heart beats in her breast as her heart beats in his, how can he get old when she doesn't? Then he talks about how she should take careful of herself as he will take care of himself for he has her heart inside him and stuff. It ends by him saying that she shouldn't expect to get her heart back again because she gave it to him, not to be returned. To be honest, this is what I've learned from the analysis but what I thought before was either that he was saying that he won't take her heart for granted or that he won't assume that she gave him her heart.

Mine was sonnet 19. Basically its about time and what it can done to his lover. It can make wrinkles, make her old, and just turn her to an old lady but she is always going to be young for him no matter what. He loves her and as long as people read the sonnet 19 she will always tay young and will never die.

The sonnet that i read was sonnet 13. This is about how an offspring or descendant inherit their parents appearance. Because this was inherited appearance, it is a lineage and it tells a lesson to make your offspring before you die, which is kind of obvious.

Saimoon(?) sorry I dont know how to spell your name and I did Sonnet # 23. It was about a man who is too shy to admit his love to his lover. He was saying that he felt like he was too manly to admit his feelings which made it seem like his love was becoming weaker. So then, he came up with the solution which was to write about his love, like a poem or a story.. etc. He said that it would be able to say much more than his tongue. And we had a similar guess to it so I think we were right

I and Jooyoung analyzed the sonnet 30, its theme was about remembrance or contemplation. At the first quadrant, it is about his remembrance and memories that he looks back at his life and sees the things he had missed, but he didn't not find. At the second quadrant, he talks about what did he lost??? such as friend, beloved and many things else. At last quadrant, it is about his sorrow. At last, the couplet is when he thinks about them the sorrow gone.

Elisa and I worked on the Sonnet 24. At first, we thought that Shakespeare was expressing his love toward his lover by saying how he keeps her look/image into his heart and wants to show it to her. However, he was basically looking at himself in the mirror and described his look in poetic form. The resolution ends up being how Shakespeare realizes that judging people by their looks shouldn't happen. This lesson was what Shakespeare tried to convey.

Sergey and I had the same sonnet. It's sonnet 19, and we assumed that it was related to the force of time. But how time cannot interfere with Shakespeare's love. And we were right. Somehow, we find it connected to the sonnet 18, because both sonnets talked about how his love will stay eternally in the verse (which refers to the lines of sonnet) (By the way, Kevin helped us with this idea).
I am really curious about sonnet 20. Even though I read analysis of it, I can't understand what the writer is trying to say because there are many different interpretations.

Mine was sonnet 20 just like you guys had. And sorn had the same. Anyways what i first thought about is that its similar to sonnet 18 which talks about how he loves someone. However, after reading an analysis, i found that sonnet 20 is about how he knows this guy and hes in love with that guy. You can argue a lot of things about this sonnet but i think its basically telling the homosexuality of shakespeare...

My sonnet was Sonnet 16. My parter, Juni, had a different idea from what I thought about the sonnet. To me, I thought this theme was about giving advices to live the world, but Juni thought that it was about two men fighting. But actually, Shakespeare wrote this sonnet to tell his beloved one how to be young and keep her beauty forever.

I had to work with James to translate sonnet 20, first we thought that it was a sonnet about Shakespeare's secret lover. It was kind of the same as sonnet 18. He's saying that she's very beautiful just like a women. First it confused me a bit because... isn't he talking about a women? But at the end it turned out to be that he wrote this sonnet for his lover which is a man. Does this means that he is a gay?
