I found it kind of weird, some sonnets have confusing meanings. When we walked around and shared our sonnets, some sonnets have male and female idk how to say it, like he talks about his lover but mentions he... what is it? Do you have any clue??

Well... Shakespeare is known to be homosexual. So in some of the sonnets he was probably writing to his male lover. It can confuse a lot of people and it confused me too. For sure. But he also wrote some sonnets about himself as well as his own son. He wrote a lot sonnets haha. Its really hard to determine who he is directing the poem to.

So all of the sonnets is not in order so they can not be connected. they are in a different time. So I think Sp was gay but at that time, society didn't accept that so SP love both woman and man.

Well some of his poem is actually directed to males to be honest. One of the poem even says about a woman's beauty in a man's body. Well this is what one of the groups explained. He was a homosexual guy i guess and he wasn't afraid to admit it.

The sonnet 20, which i did an annotated reading on, was one of those "homosexuality talking" poem. To be honest, i dont think anyone knows about who he dedicated his poem to, because theres a lot and most of them are confusing. At first, i thought that the sonnet20 is similar to sonnet 18, which is about how he loves his lover. However, after i read an analysis of the poem, i realized that sonet20 actually shows his homosexuality...i think he was gay too..

I did annotated reading on this sonnet as well with Stephen. We had so many themes and even Kevin didn't know the true meaning of this sonnet. I was telling this sonnet was about homosexuality to Stephen but he ignored me, but anyway I was really confused at first as well. But at school, I don't know who it was, said that Shakespeare was homosexual, and I got idea from he or she. I knew this poem was dedicated to man but at first, it talks about women's feature but suddenly changes to men so it really confused me. I think this poem was the hardest I ever gotten till now. And I don't think anyone will know to whom this poem is dedicated to.

Yeah. The hardest part for me about this activity was understanding Shakespeare's choices of words. He says him and then her, love and then hate, and more. But since Shakespeare is known as homosexual, it is easier to understand what he is trying to say. Maybe we should understand the sonnet in a open minded way.

We all know that he wrote it like this because he was gay. Before, I thought he used it like this to tell the readers that he likes him, not loves him. Maybe his use of lover was to describe the friendship between them. After I saw that others thought he was gay, my opinion changed.

I'm not sure if it's true but Shakespeare was definitely a gay at some point of his life and probably while he was married to some woman. Therefore, he wrote diverse sonnets in order to express his feelings to different people he loved. It's kind of confusing indeed but there was a sonnet in which there was an evidence that his lover was a male. So yeah... I believe he was bisexual. Haha

I don't think Shakespeare was gay. I think the people of those times didn't really tolerate them, and I doubt that Shakespeare would have been as popular as he was if he was gay. I think he wrote about male and female lovers so he'd increase his readership, and make his sonnets more popular with the ladies.

I think that Shakespeare was gay but back in that time, society would probably forbid and he wouldn't be accepted in the society so the only way to express his love is through sonnets.

In all of Shakespeare's sonnets, it mentioned about his lover, but we don't know who that person is. Shakespeare didn't mention much about the gender being a female in his sonnets, but did mention about a boy that he admires in a few sonnets, therefore all these sonnets were probably written for the boy.

Shakespeare is gay? I don't think so maybe he's trying to say the meaning in a different way or maybe in a deep way where we have to think deeply to understand it?
