Today, Ms. Boyd showed us our grades for our midterm and our presentations. I was okay with my midterm but my presentation was actually disappointing ... Anyway, so we reviewed our tests and what made me laugh was last part. The 6 step. There was Shakespeare sonnet 29 or something and we had to interpret it and write a 6 step about it. I heard that most of us didn't finish the evaluation part where you have to write a literary analysis. While we review today, it was funny that how everyone's theses where different. Ms. Boyd said she marked it okay if you finished the essay. Anyway, I thought it was about how Shakespeare felt lonely. And Woojung came up with an idea that "the person" the sonnet is dedicated to is solution for everything. What was your theses statement? Was it way off like me?

I don't remember what my thesis statement was, but I wrote that this sonnet proved that Shakespeare was gay. The whole essay talked about Shakespeare being mad about himself for liking a guy. At least that was how I read it. I also said that this sonnet clearly proves that Shakespeare was once gay.

I wrote that "your presence, is a distraction to my pain" At the intro and the first two quatrains, the author talks about how he hates his life and fate. As the sonnet proceed to the couplet, i felt that the author felt better thinking about his lover. hm.... i didn't notice any part of the sonnet talking about the gender of his lover. I was assuming a woman not a man.

I wrote that ¡°although you are stressed of something, thinking of someone you love (or could be friends) will forget it¡±. I got this thesis when first two quatrains told about stresses and one couplet told ¡°thinking of you forgets my pain¡±. I felt doubtful about my thesis because thinking about your lover doesn¡¯t help forgetting pain. So I made other thesis statements: ¡°Shakespeare is addicted to his lover which made strange perspective¡± and ¡°People during middle ages had few stresses because of thinking about their lovers¡±. Eventually, I chose the first thesis statement.

I don't remember what i wrote in the 6 steps essay(the last step) because i didn't write it at all. I didn't have enough time to write them, so i just made other questions to be right, and give up about the essay part.....lol...do not ask the grade of midterm..

I was disappointed with my presentation grade too... For my exam, I think my these statement was that Shakespeare was expressing his desire to be in a higher class of society and be popular. I think the sonnet showed Shakespeare's determination to be rich and surrounded by people.
