Ok, so it's a new start. We are getting into a new unit where we will learn about transcendentalism. In class I mentioned having a different approach to religion than ur parents. Ms Boyd shut me down though cuz we are like a non religious school and we can't talk about religion in a bias way or idk we just can't. But I want to mention it because I THINK it makes me a transcendentalist I guess I am kind of a transcendentalist because I don't agree with many of societal norms but then again there are others who who don't agree with societal norms or are even more extreme than me, so I'm not really an outcast. One thing I am sure of though, as of now, I have a different religious outlook than my family. I think my parents will be okay with it cuz they are pretty open minded for being brown (haha, sorry ms Boyd). I hope my English made sense. So I wanna know what transcendentalist characteristics do u have?

I don't think I have any special transcendentalist characteristics... I do have my own opinions and preferences but does that really make me a transcendentalist? I think everyone had their own thoughts and tastes but that doesn't make them a transcendentalist.. that just makes them a unique person. (In my opinion)
But, if it counts I guess I don't always agree with fashion trends or whatever is cool at the moment. If I do like the latest trend then that would be because it fits with my personal taste rather than because everyone thinks it's cool. ...Yeah.. I'm not much of a transcendentalist..

Well, I'm not really a complete part of this particular idea but when I went to the states, I noticed how everyone would just walk across the roads ignoring the signaling lights ALL THE TIME. I never saw one person just wait for the lights to change and then cross the street. It's clear that we're told that we shouldn't cross the streets until the lights change but everyone seems to ignore that in America. But I kinda agree because when there are no cars going by, why waste your time waiting instead of just walking when you can and you know it's safe?

I first gotta completely understand this concept i guess.. Umm but if i have to say something, i would say, like yeajin mentioned, i don't go with the flow that everyone likes at the moment. I tend to go with what I like and sure I would go with something that everyone like if I like it too. But I wouldn't just agree with something just because everyone says it's cool.

No one throw the garbage in the garbage bin, EVERYBODY ALWAYS BREAK THE RULES even those are bad or good. Aren't almost vietnamese people transcendentalist?

I think I am somewhat transcendentalist because I don¡¯t always follow what others do. For example, I still use a phone that is five years old. I don¡¯t change it because I only need to talk and send messages to others. But since everyone doesn¡¯t always follow majority, it can be concluded that everyone is unique, as what Yeajin said.

i don't think that i am transcendentalist because I really don't think a lot about the social life. I really just think that there are many different kind of people and that they have their own different kind of beliefs. I don't care what the world's major religion or trend in clothes at all.

I also think I am not a transcendentalist.. I do have some thoughts that is different from others, but I don't think they are that big enough to make me a transcendentalist. I usually go with the majority because they makes sense, but sometimes when they don't make sense, I do against it, for example the way people are wearing. There are people who wear clothes that I don't understand and agree. But, I don't think that makes me a thanscendentalist.

Who are you? Are you Ruchira? I don't know but ruru is like Ruchira and I don't think there was another new kid in other class who is brown and talks like Ruchira and talks to Ms. Boyd like that. And also you (I am assuming you are Ruchira) told me that you had a religious talk with your parents yesterday about having different view on religion for 2 minutes. Anyway I think having different religion than your parent is fine thing! Because we have freedom of religion, literally you can have any religion you want. For me, I am like half Thaoism. And Ms. Boyd is Thaoist as well and so do you Ruchira.
Anyway, I don't think I am really a transcendentalist since I care about what other thinks and don't follow my instinct. Actually, my instinct is really bad that whenever I guess an answer in my test, it's all wrong. So I don't believe my instinct. But you and many others told me I think in different way, well you guys say I am WEIRD, but same thing. I think this is being Transcendentalist because you are being your own and not following others. This is the only characteristic I can find from me.

I don't think I'm a transcendentalist. I try to found my opinion for everything but when I sound another's opinion, I will give up mine and follow another's. But I want to become a transcendentalist.

I guess I'm not really transentendalist?? Not sure but I actually disagree on what Luke said about the fact that whne there is no car you can just cross the road not carrying if it's red or green light. The reason I guess i the chance that car might go in speed you are not suppose to and have huge car accident because it seems the most of the people in world don't seem to follow laws about cars, so just imagine you decide to corss the road when it's red light and someone that is on the car thinks "Oh ***** I'm late i have to rush" then mostly the person is gonna go like 120 km/h speed and end up having car accident. So I personally think that transendentalist is something bad in away but good in some ways.

I also don't tend to go with the flow all the time. I do what I think what is right for me and I argue with people when I think something is not right and that I why I am here in Korea to pursue my dream without listening to what other people say or follow the trend of the people!

I'm definitely much of a transcendentalist. I mean, I CAN see that some of the more popular trends in society are kind of screwed up, and those trends are ones that I won't follow, but I won't stop other people from following them. Also, I care too much about what other people think of me so I end up being a conformist.
